Power couples and soppy on court moments: Happy Valentine’s Day!

Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or loathe it, there’s no escaping the romance and cliches that surround us at this time of the year. At HST, we love any occasion that encourages us to have some fun and the 14th February is no exception.

We asked you on Instagram who your favourite tennis playing power couple is and below are the most popular. Some are still as sweet and ongoing, some were short lived and some we just really really miss (Can you imagine the babies that could have maybe come from Ana and Fer?)

Andre Agassi & Steffi Graf

Lleyton Hewitt & Kim Clijsters

Ana Ivanovic & Fernando Verdasco

Maria Sharapova & Grigor Dimitrov

Flavia Pennetta & Fabio Fognini

Petra Kvitova & Radek Stepanek

And, of course, Roger and Mirka

A Happy Slammer’s recollections:

“This was a while ago (and mostly involving
Russians)- Igor Andreev and Maria Kirilenko,
Anastasia Myskina and Jurgen Melzer, Kournikova
was rumoured to be with Philippoussis. Oh and
Sam Groth and Jarmila Gajdosova were married

“Hey Nadal! Will you marry me?”

It’s not often that one can distract Rafa during a tennis match but sometimes it’s just a simple yet rather forceful proposal that can cause him to crack a  smile.

What more needs to be said?

The actual proposal

Remember that time at the 2015 Topshelf Open in the Netherlands when Michaella Krajicek won a match and boyfriend Martin Emmrich came on court to propose to her? Well, when you’re a tennis playing couple, how else would it be done?

Tell us below your romantic tennis memories or, if you could have any player be your valentine, who would it be?
